If you are thinking about tooth whitening treatment, it is vital that you consult a dentist. Kits available from the internet or in some beauty salons may seem cheap, but they can cause damage to your teeth, from increased sensitivity to more serious dental health problems.

The Enlighten system uses special tooth-whitening trays that are made in the laboratory to exactly fit your mouth. This reduces the chances of the whitening gel that is placed in the trays from coming into contact with anything other than your teeth.
You’ll need to come into the practice so that one of our dentists can check you are suitable for tooth whitening treatment and can measure you for your whitening trays. The majority of patients are suitable for home tooth whitening, but if you have any underlying dental conditions these should be treated first.
Once your trays are ready, you’ll be called back to the practice to check that they fit properly, and will be shown how to use them. You should put a small amount of gel in the trays and wear them overnight for the period of time advised by your dentist – commonly about two weeks. The exact length of treatment will vary from patient to patient, depending on how many shades brighter you want your teeth to be.
